The Buyer’s Agent decision file
What would have to be true for buyer’s agent to improve the purchase?
Independent strategy for Prosper homebuyers for the home search, property comparisons, offers, inspections, negotiation, and closing. The useful question is not whether the service sounds helpful. It is which decision, number, document, or deadline becomes clearer because of it.
The buyer-side plan should connect the home search to money, timing, risk, and the conditions that make a purchase worth completing. A useful plan also makes it easier to reject a home that does not fit.
Pressure-test the decision before saying yes
- Representation: Who is responsible for your search, comparison, negotiation, inspection calendar, and closing follow-up?
- Walk-away points: Which price, payment, condition, or contract term would make this the wrong purchase?
- Decision record: What facts should be written down before a showing or deadline adds pressure?
Would it be unreasonable to ask for the evidence behind representation before accepting the first answer? A buyer should be able to explain the tradeoff in plain language and see where it appears in the contract, report, worksheet, or property record.
