The Realtor Rebate decision file
What would have to be true for realtor rebate to improve the purchase?
Residential buyer rebate information for qualified Prosper home purchases, subject to transaction, lender, brokerage, and disclosure requirements. The useful question is not whether the service sounds helpful. It is which decision, number, document, or deadline becomes clearer because of it.
A rebate, builder promotion, seller contribution, or rate offer is useful only after the buyer sees the net effect on cash, payment, loan cost, price, and future flexibility. The headline number is the beginning of the comparison.
Pressure-test the decision before saying yes
- Eligibility: Does the transaction, brokerage policy, loan, and purchase agreement permit the proposed rebate?
- Disclosure: When will the lender and title company receive the rebate terms in writing?
- Net benefit: How does the rebate compare with other compensation, credits, and negotiated concessions?
Would it be unreasonable to ask for the evidence behind eligibility before accepting the first answer? A buyer should be able to explain the tradeoff in plain language and see where it appears in the contract, report, worksheet, or property record.
